Sweat the Small Stuff

People sometimes think that the so called "front lines" of the spiritual battle are to be found on the mission field or in the pulpit. But the real front lines of our spiritual battle are within us and all around us. These are the constant little things that we face all the time. This is where our faith intersects with our life and these little things are where we live.

As the old saying goes, "If you watch out for the pennies the dollars will take care of themselves." It is the little words you speak, the little thoughts you think, the little things you do or leave undone, the little moments you waste or use wisely, the little temptations which you yield to or overcome—the little things of every day that reveal the quality of our faith.

Zech. 4:10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the Lord that search all around the world.)
